Day 3

Start of the third day here at Abbey Road. We’re ahead of schedule so we may get to play around later today. But first, we finish tracking “From Austin To Abbey Road” which means vocals, drums, piano, and maybe a little Hammond organ. It’s been a blast and I think today should just be a laid back warm glow finish to the whole event. Tomorrow we’ll chill and celebrate and probably listen to the rough mixes a ridiculous number of times.

My brain is packed full of information and I doubt it will all stay in there. Our assistant engineer, Pete, told me a story about his first day. An old timer told him to write down everything that happened that day because he wouldn’t remember it. He didn’t write it down so the only thing he remembers about the day was the advice. Ironic, eh? Thankfully and courtesy of Cy and Robert, I have the recorded version of our first, second, and third day at the studio.

[side note: Ken Scott just walked in during our break. Cool.]

I just played all three pianos on “From Austin To Abbey Road” ending on a long sustained “A” chord. It’s cheeky but I’m having the time of my life.

Oh yeah, Happy Fourth of July!

Wow, it’s amazing how much Abbey Road looks like the old studio on Corral street.  Of course they have things like glass in the booth window, but let’s not split hairs.
Way to go ladies!  I’m glad you’re having fun.  I can’t wait to hear the record.
